Minor and Marie (Schledorn) Lawyer
Marie Schledorn was born March 29, 1897, to Johann Joseph and Johanna (Roeloffzen) Schledorn in
Enschede, Holland. She came to the Edmore area in 1914 and worked at the Northern Hotel for Ole Vig for two years. She later worked as a housekeeper on farms, staying with her brother Frank Schledorn. Her brothers Joe, Aloys and Ted, and sister Dena also lived in the area.
Minor Lawyer was born Jan. 30, 1898, to Harmon and Bertha (Hosney) Lawyer in Illinois. They moved to a farm north of Crary. Bertha was born May 14, 1879, and died Feb. 20, 1921. Harmon died April 24, 1959, and is buried in North Dakota.
Minor and Marie were married June 6, 1918. They lived west of Edmore for several years, then moved to Michigan state in the early 1920s. Minor worked for several years at GM Truck and Coach at Pontiac, Mich. They moved to Seattle, Wash., around 1968. Marie died at Seattle in July 1983, and Minor died at Pontiac, Mich., in November 1983. They are both buried in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, Mich.
